Dr. med. Marco Valoroso

Introduction

Dr Marco Valoroso is an FMH specialist in orthopaedic surgery and traumatology of the locomotor system. He handles the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic and traumatic conditions of the musculoskeletal system, with advanced specialisation in knee surgery, both prosthetic and reconstructive.

He practises at the Ente Ospedaliero Cantonale (EOC) in Lugano and Bellinzona, where he is the senior physician responsible for the knee unit. His experience includes primary and revision joint replacement, robotic surgery, meniscal surgery, complex ligament reconstructions and the treatment of patellofemoral conditions.

He refined his surgical training in Lyon, at the school of Prof. David Dejour, an international reference centre for knee surgery, focusing in particular on patellar instability, trochlear dysplasia and the trochleoplasty technique. He has also developed specific expertise in treating postoperative complications, including arthrofibrosis and joint stiffness.

He leads the scientific research of the EOC Knee Team and takes part in collaborations dedicated to developing innovative surgical techniques. His approach favours conservative treatment where possible, turning to surgery when indicated, with the aim of offering each patient the most appropriate course of care.
